Important Notice for Prospective Master's and PhD Students

Please be aware that if you accept an offer of admission, you will be required to obtain a WES Course-by-Course ICAP Evaluation for degree(s) earned from institution(s) outside the United States. 

Transcripts for Master's and PhD Students Admitted Prior To and Including Fall 2024, Winter 2025, Spring 2025

All new students are required to submit official proof of an awarded bachelor's degree or equivalent. The award date of your degree must occur before the first day of your first quarter.

Incoming students are required to provide official transcripts, proof of degree(s) awarded, and official test scores. As an incoming student, you can register for your first quarter during your initial registration period. However, our office will place a registration hold preventing any future registration if your official academic records and test scores are not received by our posted deadline.  Please check your admissions portal for more information. 

Delays to your enrollment can impact multiple student services, including the release of fellowship funding. Visit the UCR Registrars' Academic Calendar to stay informed on upcoming enrollment dates.  

You must notify our office immediately to report any changes to your dates of attendance (i.e delayed graduation) or awarding of degree.   

Official transcripts or proof of a degree awarded must contain: 

  • Completion of all required coursework for the award of the degree 
  • Degree earned and date the degree was conferred 
  • Official wet ink stamp, seal, and/or embossed marking from the institution on each page of the document(s) provided. 

Additional requirements for international records:  

  • Certified English translations not prepared by the institution, must include:             
  • An exact word-for-word translation of the original language document and a photocopy of the original language document used for the translation.                    
  • Official wet ink stamp, seal, and/or embossed marking from translator on each document provided.                    
  • Sealed in translator's official envelope signed and stamped across the envelope flap by the translator. 

Do not order final, official transcripts until your final grades and any degree awarded have been posted. 

Any documents submitted to UC Riverside deemed to be false or altered could lead to the cancellation of your application and/or withdrawal of your offer of admission, up to and including dismissal from your graduate program. 

Acceptable Delivery Methods

  • All new students are required to submit official proof of an awarded bachelor's degree or equivalent. The award date of your degree must occur before the first day of your first quarter. 

    Students admitted to Summer/Fall 2025, Winter 2026, Spring 2026, and beyond are required to provide the WES ICAP course by course evaluation for academic records from institutions outside of the United States. Select Institution or Company: "University of California, Riverside" then School/Division  "Graduate Admissions" (no entry needed in “Attention To” field).

  • If you are a high school counselor or the registrar for a community college, and you are seeking information about submitting academic records for a student pursuing a bachelor's degree at UCR, please contact the UCR Undergraduate Admissions office at admissions@ucr.edu. Please do not send these records through the Graduate Admissions office.

    Institutions and their authorized vendors may email official academic records on behalf of Master's and PhD admitted applicants directly to grdadmis@ucr.edu.  Transcripts or proof of degree sent by the student will not be accepted as they are not considered official.  

    For U.S. institutions using 3rd party vendors, we accept electronic transcripts from, but not limited to: 

  • If you are a high school counselor or the registrar for a community college, and you are seeking information about submitting academic records for a student pursuing a bachelor's degree at UCR, please contact the UCR Undergraduate Admissions office at admissions@ucr.edu. Please do not send these records through the Graduate Admissions office.

    When electronic delivery is not available, institutions can mail records on behalf of Master's and PhD applicants directly to:

    All documents must be sent in an official, sealed, institution envelope. The envelope must be signed and stamped across the flap by the appropriate academic officer issuing the document. Open envelopes or those missing the signature and stamps will not be accepted.   

    If you are sending the documents on behalf of your institution or bringing the documents to our office, keep the issued official documents in the original sealed envelope and place them in a larger mailing envelope. 

  • Contact the appropriate test administrator and request your official scores to be sent electronically to UCR. The ETS school code is 4839. 

  • Current and former UCR students are not required to request official undergraduate or graduate level UCR transcripts. An unofficial copy of your transcript from your R'Web account is acceptable. 

    Please send your unofficial transcript in PDF format to grdadmis@ucr.edu.  Make sure that your transcript has final grades and proof of degree awarded, if completed. Copies of degree audits or screen shots are not acceptable. 

    If you have attended UCR Extension, we will require an official electronic transcript. Please use Parchment Exchange - select UC-Riverside Graduate Admissions as the recipient.
